Hours: Monday- FridayÌý9:00am-5:00pm (SLS is closed on all university holidays. Please see Announcements for any upcoming closures)

Notary Hours: 3-3:30pm Monday-Friday. Before coming in for a notary service, please review our Notary Policies,Ìýand view our announcements for upcoming closures.

Office Closures

Our office will be closed Friday, October 27th while our staff attends a conference.

Due to staff illness and short staffing, the SLS lobby may be closed periodically, and notary hours may periodically be canceled. If you plan to stop by our office in person, you may consider calling first to confirm our front desk reception lobby is open.Ìý

Response times on inquiries may take a bit longer than usual due to understaffing related to COVID-19. We thank you for your understanding

The elevator to the third-floor mezzanine, where SLS is located, is occasionally out of service.Ìý If you are unable to access our office because the elevator is not operating, please call us at 503-725-4556 and we will make alternative arrangements to meet with you.

Opportunities

Students interested in the legal field can engage with Ë®¹ûÅÉ Student Legal Services through our internships, Explore the Law program, and our Advisory Board.

Apply for an SLS Internship -The SLS internship lasts one term, and may be eligible for college credit. Our interns gain legal experience by working closely with our team of attorneys, law clerks, and support staff. Learn more about our internship.

Participate in the Explore the Program - Explore the Law (ETL)Ìýconnects Ë®¹ûÅÉ students with attorneys and others in the legal field and helps them prepare for law school and beyond. This a two-term program that may qualify for academic credit. Learn more about ETL.

Join ourÌýAdvisory Board -ÌýThe SLS Advisory Board reviews SLS programming, budgets and activities. The Board is made up of Ë®¹ûÅÉ students and members of the community. This is an unpaid, volunteer position with a one-year commitment. Joining our Advisory Board is a great way to learn more about the unique needs of a non-profit legal services office, and gain experience working in a professional setting. Advisory Board meeting agendas and minutes are available to the public, you can request access by emailing slms@pdx.edu. . Please note that we review applicaitons for the advisory board annually, and onboard new members every Fall term. You are welcome to apply at any time, but will likely not be contacted until the end of Spring term for service starting the following fall.
